Accelerate (com.ritamsarmah.accelerate) is a Mac OS X software application that has been discovered and submitted by users of iBoostUp.

The latest version that our iBoostUp users have reported seeing on their systems is Accelerate 19. The most popular version of this application used by our users is version 20. Accelerate requires macOS 10.11 or later.

Accelerate is a fully customizable extension for controlling video playback and speed in Safari.


  • Change the playback speed of any HTML5 video in Safari
  • Personalize keyboard shortcuts for speed controls (increase/decrease speed, toggle default, toggle preferred, show current speed)
  • Set additional shortcuts for playback controls (play/pause, skip forward, skip backward, skip to end of video)
  • Customize default speed, preferred speed, speed change interval, and skip interval
  • Use additional right-click menu options or a toolbar item as speed controls
  • Supports Picture-in-Picture and AirPlay
  • Works with YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Vimeo, Twitch, and many more!

    By default, you can use the following keys on your keyboard to control video speed:
    D: Speed up
    S: Slow down
    R: Reset to default speed (default: 1x)
    A: Toggle to your preferred speed (default: 2x)
    V: Show current playback speed

    Accelerate never collects any personal data or identifiable information from you. Safari will show a general warning that the extension can read sensitive info from all webpages. This permission level is required for extensions like Accelerate in order to interact with the web pages you visit. For more details, please see Accelerate's privacy policy.
